Smoke and Mirrors
Smoke and Mirrors
Media: single channel video is final work. Installation used artifacts from former barn, refracted sunlight, home made smoke bombs | 2011
Smoke and Mirrors is a video work whose source material is a temporary installation made from the artifacts left behind in the studio space of Columbia County’s Artist In Residence Program, Rural Projects. Prior to the installation, the studio was a chicken farm and the detritus that remained in that space was used as part of the work’s construction.
Aspects of the work gesture towards the ever shifting landscapes of work and labor. The ebb and flow of former working conditions and its residue after spaces no longer serve their purpose frame the video work.
